Secto Design: Light Through Slats The Object at Eye Level Hold an Octo 4240 shade before installation and the construction logic becomes immediately legible. Sixty-eight centimeters tall, fifty-four wide—dimensions that suggest mass but deliver almost none. The shade weighs less than two kilograms. The birch slats, each roughly three millimeters thick, have been form-pressed into a gentle curve and then nailed and glued, one at a time, to thin plywood rings that provide the only rigid structure. Run a finger along the interior surface and the grain is smooth, sanded to a finish that removes splinters but preserves the wood's tactile character.
